 My first CD, "Captured", was initially released on the Eclipse Music label and came into the possession of Fossil Records when a deal was struck over the means of consolidating the resources of these two small companies. The compositions, with the exception of "The Pygmy Forest", "The Gentlemen of Leisure" and "The Wayside", represent ten years of writing. My younger brother Ed and I brought them to recordable shape during writing sessions that we held periodically while developing new material. In order to differentiate Captured from the bigger sounding CDs by The Fowler Brothers we decided to utilize a smaller, lighter sounding band that featured flute and trumpet or flugelhorn, an occasional trombone or saxophone, piano, bass, rhythm guitar and lots of percussion and drums. Ed and I had one rehearsal with Walt, who played both keyboards and trumpet on the record, to get his input on harmonic matters. We then added Chester Thompson for one rehearsal and cut the basic tracks over the next two days. One additional note - my son Marvin, 18 years old at the time, is the vocalist on "They Hang Out". I have been listening to Captured a lot lately and am very pleased with it. Steve Fowler | |||
