Although "Hunter" was the first Fowler Brothers record to be released on Fossil Records it actually had a precursor, an album called "Fly On" that was put out by Japanese RCA in 1976. The recording of Hunter began in 1985 when the brothers started to believe that, in order to present the band as it actually existed, they would have to make the record without any outside artistic interference. One of the qualities that made the band unique was that the brothers chose to play together and were capable of playing each other's music even though their compositional styles were radically different. Adding Mike Miller and Albert Wing to the mix lent an even broader spectrum to the complexity of playing and writing styles that the band had available to record. The best solution, it was decided, was to let everyone be represented both as a soloist and as a composer, eventually giving Hunter a cross section of styles that would never have been allowed by an established producer or record company. Despite the conventional wisdom of record companies Hunter, with almost no promotion, had startling successes everywhere it was played, most notably in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Detroit. Check out the many moods of Hunter. You will be glad you did. | |||
